Around the Banyoles lake there are a lot of areas where little lakes can appear.

Nowadays there are:

  • estanyol de la Cendra (Ash little lake)
  • estanyol del Vilar
  • estanyol Nou (it appeared one night in 1978).
  • estanyol Vermell (red little lake) or estanyol de Can Sisó (the picture)
  • estanyol petit d'en Montalt
  • estanyol d'en Montalt

This is an interesting zone protected by PEIN (Interesting Natural Areas).
